Since time immemorial, humankind has dreamed of flying. At La Banne d’Ordanche, the cradle of French gliding, pioneers explored this art of movement and elevation. Inspired by this fascinating history, this project is fully integrated into its environment to offer a unique experience blending architecture and nature. Anchored to the slope, it follows the contours of the land and uses local materials to merge with the landscape. Its earth-concrete walls echo the rocky outcrops, while its lightweight structure, inspired by glider wings, seems poised to take flight. A suspended observation deck extends beyond the building, offering a 360° view of the Sancy mountains and the Dordogne Valley. An interactive scenographic journey retraces the history of gliding and offers a 5D immersion. A place where history and landscape meet, an invitation to see bigger, to dream bigger.
